The fair’s section dedicated to collectives, individual designers and studios, Downtown Editions, is back this year introducing creatives from all corners of the world to the Middle East for the first time.
The theme for the 2023 iteration of the UAE Designer Exhibition has been announced; exploring the future of living spaces, with a focus on materiality and social impact, this annual highlight showcase will this year be curated by Fatima Al Mahmoud.
Sharing insights into her work, encouraging ethical, sustainable practices in the design industry, prominent forecaster, publisher and educator Lidewij Edelkoort will be a highlight speaker in this year’s programme at The Forum.
Showcasing for the very first time, Downtown Design is welcoming ‘Anatolia’, a unique and novel collective from Turkey presented by Isola Design Put together by the curatorial team of Isola Design, a collective exhibition of contemporary design talent from Turkey with feature works that reflect the region’s unique mix of ancient and modern influences.
Downtown Design is the anchor event of Dubai Design Week, the region’s most important creative festival reflecting Dubai’s position as the design capital of the Middle East. It hosts an extensive programme of design-related events which bring together thought-leaders and decision-makers of the global design stage and attract over 100,000 visitors to the Dubai Design District (d3) across the week.
In its 10th edition this year, the Downtown Design 2023 fair will showcase the latest collections, innovative products and design solutions from prominent brands from across the globe.
The fair will present its strongest line-up of exhibitors from around the world alongside the rising talent of the region as well as creative pop-ups, immersive installations and collateral programmes catering to each relevant audience; from international A&ID professionals and HNWI visitors to local homeowners and design enthusiasts, looking to discover, buy or commission.
The week is complemented by a line-up of talks, panel discussions and masterclasses featuring some of the world's most established names in the creative fields, alongside a programme of networking events and creative experiences.
