AL DECHA | الدجة

Madr Design Studio x Reviving Studio

Emirati architectural designer Shaikha Al Azeezi, founder of Abu Dhabi-based MADR Design Studio, collaborates with Emirati artist Sarah Al Mansoori to create contemporary works grounded in place, materiality, and heritage. Their joint practice merges architectural design with traditional Emirati crafts such as Al Sadu, Talli, and weaving to transform inherited cultural traditions into immersive, modern experiences.

AL DECHA reinterprets the traditional Emirati decha, an informal space for gathering and conversation, into a contemporary bench. Crafted with a continuous walnut frame featuring an integrated side nook for reading, the piece combines neutral linen upholstery with a handwoven Sadu panel to bridge local craft with simple, functional design.
