Emirati designer, artist, and architect Rand Tayfour operates through Studio Sard, rooting her practice in heritage, memory, and traditional craftsmanship. Informed by her architectural background, she uses storytelling as a foundation to reimagine traditional materials such as wood, metal, thread, and light into poetic contemporary installations, furniture, and public artworks.
Al Wasel is a series of majlis-inspired tables that translates the structure of eight classical Arabic poetic meters into functional design. Featuring eight repeated arches to echo the rhythmic cadence of spoken verse and accented with amber resin details, the collection reinterprets the majlis table as a connector between language, craft, and social gathering.
