Petal Folds

Raghad AlAli

Palestinian designer Raghad Al Ali presents Petal Folds, a collection of glass lumens that capture the quiet bloom of petals in motion. Each work is formed through the soft draping of glass under heat and gravity, a kiln-forming process developed by the designer as a gesture of post-industrial craft. Rooted in the region’s legacy of glassmaking and shaped within the UAE’s contemporary industrial context, Petal Folds bridges tradition and innovation through material and light.

Within each piece, hand-hammered brass elements emerge as the source of illumination, embodying the warmth and vitality of light itself. As it filters through the sculpted folds, light shimmers and refracts, breathing life into the glass and animating its delicate contours. The works invite stillness and reflection, evoking the intimate moment between radiance and shadow—where material softens into emotion, and craft becomes a vessel for quiet transformation.
