Saudi Talent at the heart of Downtown Design Riyadh

Offering a glimpse into the growing local design scene, and a creative direction shaped by tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation, Saudi talent is woven into the programme of the inaugural Downtown Design Riyadh fair. From minimalist furniture inspired by desert landscapes to architectural concepts echoing the geometry of Najdi homes, Saudi designers will showcase a unique ability to blend the old with the new.

Among the highlights is Noura Suleiman, co-founder of NWII.III Interiors, launching a furniture line titled ‘Mezlaj’ that is rooted in the Kingdom's evolving interior design narrative and showcases innovative interpretations of living and working environments that balance progressive design and traditional sensibilities.

The Designed in Saudi initiative, by the Architecture and Design Commission, will highlight the development of the Kingdom's industrial sector and key initiatives, Riyadh-based Lucas Barcelo is presenting his fun, sculptural pieces and visitors can explore Saudi-rooted design accessories from Hobal, presented by Saudi-based creative studio Tajalla.

The fair will also spotlight architectural installations and interactive works previously commissioned by local cultural institutions and initiatives, emphasising the evolving creative scene of the Kingdom, providing an immersive, yet educational moment for visitors of all backgrounds.

Featured installations from cultural institutions shed a light on the evolving landscape of Saudi design through architecture, craft, and collaborative expression. These installations include Narrating Woven by Ruba Al Khaldi and Lojain Rafaa, commissioned by the Architectural and Design Commission, which features an interactive loom alongside a 50-meter tapestry. Ithra will also present a selection of its pioneering design projects, including Open Segments by SYN Architects, the Iwan Pavilion, and Adeem, each reflecting Ithra’s commitment to fostering innovative, cross-disciplinary creativity.
