The UAE Designer Exhibition is back with Fatma Al Mahmoud announced as guest curator for its fourth iteration, to be staged at Downtown Design from 8-11 November 2023.

An active member of the UAE creative community, Fatma Al Mahmoud has a unique approach that focuses on introducing cultural aspects through different forms of design, ranging from graphics and products to interiors, interactive design, and new technologies. Beyond curating content, she aims to identify and nurture emerging names in the regional design sector.

With a focus on ‘Future Living Spaces’ this year, the UAE Designer Exhibition exhibition aims to showcase innovative design ideas that address identity, materiality, and social impact - urging designers to use materials and resources that are environmentally responsible, promote local production and sourcing, and design for longevity and adaptability.

With AlMahmoud at the helm, the exhibition aims to be a thought-provoking and inspiring exhibit where contributing creatives are urged to consider the cultural context of their work and the potential impact their designs can have on their communities' social and cultural fabric. By incorporating cultural references and local/regional materials, designers can create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that resonate with the cultural identity of their inhabitants.
