This year’s Downtown Design features some of the most iconic chair designs in the world.

These 5 exhibitors are the epitome of innovation when it comes to creating statement seating for the home or office:

Moroso’s Antibodi armchair

The Antibodi armchair designed by Patricia Urquiola is essentially a floral explosion; a marvelous symbolic display of fertility, the chair is a life force that highlights a wonderful yet contradictory charm. The petals have been created using a double sided fabric- felt and baize or baize and leather- and fixed to a stainless steel frame. The upholstery has a dual personality, welcoming and feminine when the petals face upwards, intentionally severe and matelassé when the petals face down.

Walter Knoll’s Fabricius

As a genuine classic, Fabricius tells the story of furniture. The chair combines the tradition of Scandinavian design and functional aesthetics with the charm of casual seating comfort. The chair has a lightness about it with it’s slim-line shape. Whether as a soloist or an ensemble, the Fabricius was made for lounges, lobbies and living rooms. And of course for design museums.

Herman Miller’s Setu Chairs

Exhibitor Herman Miller’s Setu chairs are designed to deliver instant comfort from the moment you sit down.  The Kinematic Spine uses two types of polypropylene to control resistance and support your weight as you recline. It bends and flexes with every movement, responding to the natural ways your body moves. Setu chair was awarded the prestigious Design of the Decade Gold for "Best Sustainable Design Solution" from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) in 2010.

Wilkhahn’s IN chair

Wilkhahn’s latest office chair IN combines a stimulating range of three-dimensional motion with superb comfort. The patented 3D kinematic movement known as Trimension® is the first of its kind and the most advanced ergonomic technology in the task seating industry. Even when people are sitting it encourages movement, facilitating healthiness and concentration for the user. Innovative technologies applied to the materials and production process also give IN a unique look in the world of office chairs.

Etqaan’s NM Collection Armchair
