This year’s Downtown Design features classic masterpieces and urban-contemporary collections created by emerging and established designers from around the globe.

Last month, we shared a list of exhibitors bringing exclusive pieces to this year’s Fair, and as we countdown the days to the show, we bring you a continued list of exhibitors that are unveiling their latest designs at Downtown Design 2015:

IBDAA

IBDAA (Arabic for ‘creativity’) is an online furniture platform based in Dubai. The brand is currently working on a modular piece; a side table with clever storage capacity called 'BüNDEL', to be revealed exclusively at this  year’s Downtown Design. This piece is inspired by olden-day drifters that used a folded piece of cloth to wrap their belongings, and aims to revive an item that has been forgotten in today's world by turning it into a household element. The design of the storage table comes down to just two essential components: wood and fabric. While maintaining a simple composition, IBDAA has created a multi-functional element that serves as a side table and storage space.

Kohler

Kohler has become a household name around the world - best known for their design-led but accessible bathroom and kitchen collections. The brand will present their new TAPER sink at this year’s show. Taper by BIG reinvents minimalist design through shape-shifting geometry, turning the practical into poetry. From evolutionary architect Bjarke Ingels, in collaboration with KiBiSi, Taper is a concept that merges countertop, faucet and running water into one visually seamless design. The result is a design that is unconventional, unexpected and playfully approachable.

The brand turned 50 this year and conducted an interesting experiment on architecture and design students around the world (read more about that here). At Downtown Design 2015, USM will exhibit exclusive pieces that will be displayed for the first time in the Asia/Middle East region.  (Image: sideboard by USM)

AKROS

Akros' creations are inspired by ancient monumental constructions and famous works of art, but the brand adds an unexpected luxurious twist to modern interiors. Akros intends to unveil a brand new pattern at Downtown Design 2015 entitled Modello Ka’os. Here’s a taste of what you can experience at the fair.

Vin de Garde

Vin de Garde will premiere their newest hardware system - the MAGASIN, the only one of its kind in the World at Downtown Design 2015.  This system will allow users to store their bottles in a number of orientations to feature their prized labels and will secure the bottles in place with an ingenious collar system. The design is still a secret as Vin de Garde is still working through patent applications worldwide. The brand will unveil the new design at the Fair but need to keep the design a secret until the show, but their current designs, like the HIVE series pictured above, continue to be bestsellers around the world.
