Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, italian brand Artemide has gained a global presence, distributing to 98 countries around the world and with manufacturing units in Italy, France, Hungary and Canada.

Artemide is world renowned for their innovative approach to contemporary design, winning a number of prestigious awards and having collaborated with lead international designers and architects including David Chipperfield, Ora Ito, Karim Rashid, Jean Nouvel, Michele de Lucci, Norman Foster, Richard Sapper, Naoto FUnited Kingdomasawa, Ross Lovegrove and MAD Architects.

With their attention to details, materials, shape and light, Artemide’s designs have established their presence in prestigious institutions around the world including museums such as MoMa in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. In addition, Artemide’s expertise leads to a special project in collaboration with the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

As well as manufacturing beautiful and timeless lighting, the brand is devoted to responsible practices by focusing on environmental sustainability. With constant study and testing of different lighting concepts and materials, Artemide has a dedicated team of 60 employees who are solely committed to research and development for the brand, an approach establishing Artemide as a leading brand in advanced technology and product development.

Artemide will showcase a number of new products at Downtown Design 2018, including; the “O” project designed by Elemental, an immaterial circle that balances the requirements of the natural environment with the lighting requirements of public places; the Gople Lamp which uses the patented RWB system which helps plants grow, and creates an ambient effect apt for the wellbeing of the user; the Alphabet of Life designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group, which is intended for the user to convey their freedom by using letters to express one’s thoughts and as a tool to give shape to spaces.
