The award-winning practice connects context and tradition with contemporary design to deliver one of a kind design experiences.

Founded by Egyptian interior architect Rania Hamed, VSHD connects context with contemporary design codes to subtly redefining traditions and offer a new point of view. Based in Dubai and Montreal, the practice specialises in architecture and interior design for both residential and commercial spaces across the world, from Florida to London, Cairo, and the Middle East.

With a play on volumes, colour palettes, textures and perception, each project is characterised by innovative use of materials, a fresh approach to both project typology as well as its context, and a mindful integration of tradition and contemporary design.

Warehouse Gym │Springs Souk

Refraining from using the usual materials found in most health clubs, the Springs Warehouse gym is awash with the retro feel of an old fight club through the use of brutalist design elements, optical illusions and advance lighting technology that easily alters the perception of space and ones’ experience.

Al Safa ResidenceJumeirah

The Al Safa Residences offers a contemporary update on the Art Deco style. Featuring rooms inspired by old Hollywood glamour enmeshed with geometric designs and extravagant finishes that are used with characterful restraint, the house brings together light, colour, shapes and materials in a manner that whilst being authentic to the era is also undeniably fresh and modern.

ZAAZ Wellness & Beauty CentreJumeirah

For this wellness and beauty centre, VSHD created an experiential sensory journey. Expressed through an unexpectedly minimalistic aesthetic, the studio stitched together a neutral colour palette with open spaces and design details inspired by Moroccan architecture and intelligent use of artisanal finishes to create a calm and elegant oasis.

Florida RanchUSA

Nestled amongst swaying palm trees and warm ocean breezes, this Florida ranch melds seemingly disparate design elements in a seamless, high-style manner with a skilful mix of rustic and contemporary interiors that pervade the space.

Private Residence│Jumeirah

This Jumeirah Residence won the 2015 Commercial Interior Design Awards for the Middle East Residential Interior design of the year. With its long corridors and white walls, the home doubles up as a gallery-like space for the clients to display their collection. The minimal palette is punctuated with marble and black wood to offer contrast and relief. The modern and dynamic interior environment carries forth to the exterior, offering a new architectural expression for homes in the region.
