Downtown Design 2014 closed its doors after four exciting days. XXXX visitors and professionals from across the region came together for a celebration of design that established the fair as the region’s gateway for the global design scene.
Exhibition highlights included a thoughtfully curated selection of iconic and contemporary design pieces by the world’s most respected brands, a showcase of some of the region’s most talented designers and a special feature dedicated to technological innovations that are changing the way we live.
The exhibition was complimented by a series of discussions dubbed as Original Talks, that brought together internationally acclaimed design experts such as Mario Bellini, Ab Rogers, Aric Chen, Stefania Lazzaroni from Fondazione Altagamma, the founders of design studio Autoban and Giovanna Castiglioni, daughter of legendary designer Achille Castiglioni.
Cristina Romelli Gervasoni, Fair Director of Downtown Design, concluded: “We are all very proud to be part of this effort to help establish Dubai as an international design destination. We have taken the city’s pulsing energy, its thirst for creativity and growth, and translated it into an event that has set the benchmark for future initiatives. We attracted brands with centuries of traditions in furniture and design; we embraced contemporary artists and worked hand-in-hand with them to help them present their inspirations to an international audience; and we invited some of the world’s most respected design experts to share their insights and passion for design. Now that the fair is over, we are happy that our hard work paid off and we are full of new ideas for bringing together an even better event for 2015.”
