Downtown Design takes place this year alongside the inaugural Dubai Design Week, the global meeting point for the international design community.

Workshops for younger designers Teach your children the basic principles of electricity through playful creative experience workshops on the 30th and 31st of October. Workshops include DIY Electro Dough Tech - for kids to understand electricity through play dough; DIY Synth Kit workshop - for kids to build their own synthesizer; and DIY Thirsty Plant Workshop for participants to learn how to build a moisture sensor that lets you know when your plants need watering. Read more »

ORI-GEN Take part in Ori-Gen – a performance by design collective Caravan which mingles body gestures and origami generative design to engage the audience in an interactive setting.

Nervous Structure Installation Nervous Structure is a site-specific interactive installation that consists of a sculpture composed of vertical and parallel elastic cord strings that are illuminated with a computer-generated video projection of lines. Read more

The Love Project Installation The Love Project is a study in design, science and technology that captures the emotions people feel in relating personal love stories  to transform them into mandalas. Sensors applied to participants read their subtle reactions, while they tell the defining love story of their own lives. Ripe Design Market Visit the first Ripe Design Market, a two-day pop-up design and food market set within d3 during Dubai Design Week weekend, 30 and 31 October. The work of local designers and makers  will be available for visitors to buy, alongside food from the region’s independent food businesses and live entertainment and children’s workshops.
