Designer Mai Waelkens founded Belgian lighting brand Design By Mai in 2014. The focus of her first collection embraced handmade decorative pendants, drawn with an organic and minimalistic approach. This stemmed from her years as an architect and interior designer.

An important characteristic distinguishes Design By Mai lamps from the competition: the pendants do not focus only on the technical aspects of lighting.
