Shamma Almheiri

Emirati designer Shamma Almheiri is a Sharjah-based multidisciplinary practice holder pursuing a degree in Design Management at the American University of Sharjah. Working across branding, visual communication, product design, and material exploration, her work bridges conceptual thinking and hands-on experimentation, reinterpreting cultural references to create context-driven contemporary design.

Maknun is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Mandoos, the traditional studded wooden chest historically used to store valuable household belongings. Redesigned for modern storage needs while preserving its core function of concealment, the piece is crafted from walnut, brass, and pearl to carry forward the weight, craftsmanship, and presence of the original through a refined, minimal aesthetic.
