ATHAR | أثر

Canadian-Palestinian architect and designer Nashwa Shiqwarah is the founder of Athar | أثر, a UAE-based practice exploring the intersection of architecture, culture, materiality, heritage, and identity. Drawing on over 15 years of experience across architectural education, research, and creative practice, her work translates Palestinian cultural narratives and craftsmanship into contemporary furniture, objects, and spatial experiences.

SAKAN | سكن is a contemporary furniture collection that reinterprets Palestinian heritage through material, structure, and craftsmanship. A lounge chair and two complementary side tables combine Palestinian stone, recycled glass, UAE-developed DuneCrete, and hand-embroidered tatreez, creating a dialogue between Palestinian heritage and the UAE. Together, the pieces explore how memory and cultural identity can be carried forward through contemporary design, transforming heritage into objects for everyday living.
